American Thinker: The Left Sees History's Fist Coming. Again. The Left Sees Gov Palin

The always great American Thinker wrote a superb piece ‘The Left Sees History's Fist Coming. Again.’ By James Lewis.  I posted the passages with Governor Palin mentioned directly.  I would highly recommend reading the entire piece and adding The American Thinker to your list of websites for daily news:
Want to know why the Democrats in Congress are mumbling "f*** the president"?  Want to know why the Cancun mobsters are demanding world power for yesterday's climate fascism? […]
But the biggest threat the left sees is Governor Sarah Palin.  And it's not just the American left -- the Euro-lefties hate Governor Palin in the same way they still go foaming at the mouth over Maggie Thatcher.  The U.N. corruptocrats fear her already.  Right now, the worldwide left is feeling a lot more scared than we think.
Here's why:
(a) Palin is Reaganesque beyond any politician we have seen in two decades.  When the Soviet Empire was defeated, it was by three Western conviction leaders: Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, and John Paul II.
(b) Palin is charismatic far beyond Obama's sputtering appeal.  You can tell Obama's not happy whenever he makes that prune face, like he's biting into a lemon.  Obama looks sour whenever he is not being cheered and adored by the masses.  He needs that adulation to prop up his fragile ego.  Obama can't hide his sour face when things turn bad. […]
(c) Sarah Palin is a Reagan-style constitutionalist.  The hard left understands that, even though they pretend not to.  They know perfectly well who they are and what they are.  The hard left consists of wannabe totalitarians.  You can tell by the fear they show at the prospect of losing power.  […]
Remember also that Reagan, John Paul, and Maggie Thatcher were hit by assassination attempts.  Reagan and John Paul were badly wounded and lived with the pain for the rest of their lives.  Thatcher had a lucky escape.  John Paul's assassination plot was traced directly to the KGB; Reagan's and Thatcher's would-be assassins were also radical leftists.........

Human Events: Why Sarah Palin Is The Boise State Of Politics -She Can Beat Obama-

Though college football’s regular season has all but come to an end, it was striking how similar Boise State haters resembled those in the political establishment who despise another anti-establishment, unconventional figure from the frontier: Sarah Palin. […]
In a hypothetical 2012 contest between Palin and Obama, the chattering class would dismiss an Obama victory as having been a foregone conclusion because they would have expected nothing less. The mainstream (or “lamestream,” in Palin’s vernacular) media’s expectation setters  and narrative framers would expect nothing less than an Obama landslide because they cannot even imagine the possibility of a Palin Presidency.
But should Palin pull off what elites think is unthinkable and unimaginable and defeat Obama in a general election, reporters will deem it the most catastrophic flop in the history of Presidential politics. […]
Looking at three prominent indicators analysts often employ to study outcomes of Presidential elections – the economy, the "beer test," and the contrast test – Palin stands to potentially come out on top of Obama in all three areas.
First, of course, is the economy....Second, another metric used to analyze elections is the proverbial “beer test,” which essentially holds that the candidate voters would most like to have a beer with wins the election. I call this the “populist” test. And since 1980, the candidate who has most successfully portrayed himself as the more populist candidate has won every election...Third, scholars also believe that voters often elect a President who is a dynamic contrast from the previous President. […]

Is it not plausible that Palin could win Ohio (her natural constituency may be the blue collar, white male workers who have been displaced, and they may turn out in droves to vote for her), Florida (with her staunch support of Israel), Missouri (where Proposition C, a direct rebuke to “Obama Care,” passed with overwhelming support earlier this year), and Colorado (she can turn out Evangelicals in Colorado Springs in a state whose Democrats are running away from Obama) and thus win the election? To anyone so sure and confident that Palin cannot win a general election, I ask: Would you bet your mortgage that she could not win these swing states?
Discounting Palin’s chances of becoming President would be akin to discounting Boise State’s chances of winning a BCS title game had they qualified for it, and those who openly and vociferously brush aside Palin and Boise State are only revealing their own set of inherent—and, dare I say, elitist—biases.

Governor Palin WSJ Op-Ed: Why I Support the Paul Ryan Roadmap

The publication of the findings of the president's National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform was indeed, as the report was titled, "A Moment of Truth." The report shows we're much closer to the budgetary breaking point than previously assumed.  […]
The commission itself calculates that, even if all of its recommendations are implemented, the federal budget will continue to balloon—to an estimated $5 trillion in 2020, from an already unprecedented $3.5 trillion today. […]
Not only does it leave ObamaCare intact, but its proposals would lead to a public option being introduced by the backdoor, with the chairmen's report suggesting a second look at a government-run health-care program if costs continue to soar. […]
In my view, a better plan is the Roadmap for America's Future produced by Rep. Paul Ryan (R., Wisc.).
On health care, it would replace ObamaCare with a new system in which people are given greater control over their own health-care spending. It achieves this partly through creating medical savings accounts and a new health-care tax credit—the only tax credit that would be left in a radically simplified new income tax system that people can opt into if they wish.
The Roadmap would also replace our high and anticompetitive corporate income tax with a business consumption tax of just 8.5%. The overall tax burden would be limited to 19% of GDP (compared to 21% under the deficit commission's proposals). […]
On Social Security, as with Medicare, the Roadmap honors our commitments to those who are already receiving benefits by guaranteeing all existing rights to people over the age of 55. Those below that age are offered a choice: They can remain in the traditional government-run system or direct a portion of their payroll taxes to personal accounts, owned by them, managed by the Social Security Administration and guaranteed by the federal government.

Governor Palin: “America By Heart” Book Tour and Reviews

The “America By Heart” book tour continues today in Baton Rouge, LA and Little Rock, AR. Click here for details.

I got a chance to speak with Jedediah Bila from Human Events last week. You can check out her great column about it here.

Last May I had the honor of meeting radio show host Hugh Hewitt at an event we both spoke at in Denver. He’s a great patriot, and I’m humbled by his kind words about “America By Heart.” You can read his review here.

I mention in “America By Heart” that National Review is one of my favorite magazines, and I used excerpts of articles by a number of NR writers. Among them is Kathryn Jean Lopez, who always has such wonderful insight into cultural issues, particularly in regard to building a culture of life. I’m honored by her thoughtful review of “America By Heart” and especially by her including it in the same review with Pope Benedict’s new book. You can read her article here.

Fox & Friends interviewed Luigi Zingales, the University of Chicago economist whose work I mentioned in “America By Heart.” You can see the interview here.

I look forward to seeing you in Baton Rouge and Little Rock today and signing your books!

Media Narrative: State Senator Obama More Experienced Than Gov, 2 Term Mayor & Commissioner Palin

Right now we live in an America governed by a President who entered office with a less than distinguished record as a state senator and only a two year record as a United States senator where he accomplished little more than to run for president. And yet it’s Sarah Palin, a two-term mayor, former governor and chair of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission who’s had the narrative built up and fortified around her that she doesn’t have the experience to be the president of the United States. And who built that narrative? The media.
How exactly is someone supposed to rehabilitate their political image through the same media that willfully and dishonestly destroyed it? The fact that the media is more hostile towards Palin than anyone in our lifetime is not even in dispute anymore — meaning, the traditional avenues available to most politicos for a rehabilitation tour aren’t available to her. After a near-fatal bimbo eruption nearly cost him the Democratic nomination in 1992, Bill Clinton could turn to “60 Minutes” for a second chance. Barack Obama will forever be able to go most anywhere he pleases to get his message out. Earlier this month, even George W. Bush could count on respectful treatment from the likes of Matt Lauer and Oprah Winfrey. Palin, however, is boxed in by what she knows is an entertainment and MSM establishment gunning for her, who see every opportunity to embarrass her as another set of cocktail party bragging rights.
If you remember the corrupt political coverage of 2008, rather than talk about the record of a self-made governor with a compelling personal story who worked her way up the political ladder by fighting corruption in her own party, I can’t count the number of times the likes of CNN used valuable broadcast time to run that previous Saturday night’s clip of Tina Fey mercilessly mocking the Republican Vice Presidential candidate. Rather than doing their job and, for good or bad, allowing Palin’s own personal story and record to define her, the media instead chose to allow a mean-spirited comedian to do that on their behalf. And don’t think for a second this wasn’t intentional.
So the question I would ask Rove and Will is exactly what is it they would suggest Palin do to present who she really is to as much of the American public as possible given the reality that any attempt to once again chance the MSM gauntlet would most certainly be a suicide run.
Since 2008, this indomitable mother of five has written no less than two books and a number of thoughtful columns on Facebook. She’s also a star political analyst on the powerhouse that is Fox News and has traveled extensively around the country on her book tour and during the 2010 election; meeting voters, giving speeches, and helping to galvanize the landmark political phenom that is the Tea Party. These are not only fairly traditional methods of shoring up your presidential contender bonafides, they’re also impressive accomplishments. etc.......

Gov Sarah Palin: The Major $25 News Story

With all that is happening in the world I can’t believe the media is in a tizzy because SarahPAC’s last filing was off by a total of $25. Our treasurer and attorney report that our vendor who handles these calculations is re-looking at the figures to find out where the $25 glitch is in their system. Everything else in today’s very rudimentary and quite ordinary FEC inquiry letter has been answered. If anyone would care to look at other PACs, they’ll discover that they get these sorts of letter too and many of them much more frequently than SarahPAC. But, golly, sure glad the LSM (including KTUU in Anchorage) is on top of this “controversy”!

NY Times Review: Sarah Palin's Alaska, How’s That Outdoorsy Stuff Working for Ya?

Sarah Palin says her new series on TLC is not a reality show, and she has a point. The show is not an outdoorsy version of celebrity-dysfunction shows like “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” or “The Hasselhoffs.”
“Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” which begins on Sunday, is odder than that. The snowcapped mountains, pine forests and shimmering lakes are majestic, the Palin children are adorable, and the series looks like a travelogue — wholesome, visually breathtaking […]
But mostly, the eight-part series lives up to its title — the camera follows the former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential nominee as she fishes, hunts, dog-sleds and rock-climbs. It’s a nature series for political voyeurs: viewers get to observe Ms. Palin observing nature. And to her credit, the governor doesn’t use the camera crew to recast her image or pad gaps in her résumé. She doesn’t pore over position papers in a book-lined study, phone foreign leaders or even watch “Jeopardy.”
Mostly she has fun outdoors. That includes white-water rafting, kayaking, salmon fishing and climbing glaciers. “You know what they say,” she says to the camera after a disappointing fishing trip. “A poor day of fishing beats even a great day of work.” […]
The TLC program highlights her physical bravery, but the series’s existence points to a different kind of courage: Ms. Palin is not afraid to be herself.  Yet Ms. Palin allows the camera to record moments that may well make her critics snicker, particularly now that Bristol is back in the limelight as an underdog contender on “Dancing With the Stars.”
One day a hired seaplane lands on the lake at the back of their Wasilla house to take the family salmon fishing and bear watching. The Palins watch, awestruck, as brown bears lope, swim, growl, fight. At one point a bear seems on the verge of charging the boat, a danger that Ms. Palin says “keeps you on your heels.” […]
Perhaps Ms. Palin’s most impressive feat is climbing a glacier with a guide and her husband, a rock-climbing adventure that is obviously arduous and scary. She says out loud many times that she is afraid she can’t make it to the top. Viewers may fear another risk; her high-pitched voice is so piercing it could trigger an avalanche.
