Palin comes out with a new, instantly bestselling book celebrating American exceptionalism, and every Republican who hopes for a future in national politics is talking about nothing but exceptionalism. Liberal bloggers...are talking about what Sarah Palin wants to talk about — not about climate change, immigration reform or even unemployment.

Palin preached American exceptionalism — the notion that this country is not only special, but the greatest country that ever existed on the planet — during the 2008 campaign, and forced other Republican presidential hopefuls to toe the exceptionalism line.

So Mitt Romney advocated American exceptionalism in his book last May....Indiana Rep. Mike Pence, another Republican, apparently is toying with throwing his hat in the ring because he gave a speech this week outside Washington or his district, in Detroit. She is in every respect the anti-Obama: he is black, she is white; he is male, she is female; he is cerebral, she is emotional. She doesn’t want change, because America is already great. So she doesn’t need hope. She is the America we don’t have to wait for — just recognize.

Palin is in fact using Obama’s playbook against him. She is, as her supporters often noted in the 2008 campaign, no less qualified to be president than he is (though we might ask now if we really want to go that route again). […]

We’ll see. In the meantime, it seems that Palin — not Obama, not incoming House Speaker John Boehner, not any of the political dwarves who may contest the 2012 Republican presidential nomination along with this exceptional Snow White — will be writing our political narrative.

Rasmussen: Sarah Palin Endorsement Of Nikki Haley (SC Gov) Catapults Her From Last To First

With South Carolina’s Republican Primary for Governor less than three weeks away, State Representative Nikki Haley, coming off a fresh endorsement by Sarah Palin, now leads the GOP pack.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary voters shows Haley earning 30% support. She’s followed by State Attorney General Henry McMaster who picks up 19% and Congressman Gresham Barrett with 17%. Lieutenant Governor Andre Bauer captures 12% of the vote. [...]

Haley, who trails the other three Republicans in fundraising and has long been viewed as the underdog, already had the support of popular former South Carolina First Lady Jenny Sanford. But on Friday she was endorsed by Palin at a widely-publicized statehouse rally. Primary turnout is always unpredictable, but the high-profile endorsement is undoubtedly good for Haley’s name recognition, especially among a conservative electorate with a strong Tea Party tinge.

Haley, in fact, now has a slightly larger lead among conservative GOP voters than she has among Republican voters in general. Women voters are nearly twice as likely as male voters to still be undecided, and several political analysts say the “rock star sisterhood” of Palin and Sanford could be a big boost for Haley’s bid to be the state’s first woman governor.

What Rasmussen did not poll or look into is the lack of any jump in Nikki Haley’s numbers after Romney’s endoresment!

Sarah Palin Surpasses Mitt Romney As GOP Frontrunner At Intrade, (Vegas Oddsmakers)

Intrade represents a type of stock market which trades in predictions regarding outcomes of future events. If you believe that Sarah Palin will be the Republican nominee in 2012, you can purchase a "contract" for the prevailing price, currently 25.8. Romney is currently 26.0. This price is determined by the contact traders themselves (anyone can buy or sell) and can be considered a form of ongoing poll. In fact, this speculative trading on events has been considered for use by the Pentagon as it is a highly reliable predictor of future events.

For example, if you purchased a contract on Sarah Palin today at 26.8 ($2.68), and she in fact becomes the Republican nominee for President, the contract immediately closes at 100, and the value goes to $10.00. You would therefore earn $7.32 for each contract purchased. If she chooses not to run, or runs and does not become the nominee, the contract closes at 0, and you will have lost $2.68 per contract purchased.

The bottom line is that there are thousands of people who are speculating in this market, and the market is predicting that both Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney are equally likely to be the Republican nominee. What is interesting is the fact that until Friday, Sarah had been trailing by 2 to 4 points for months.

Note how Sarah's stock rises and falls with significant events. I was surprised that her "price" hasn't fallen with the Gulf oil spill because of her outspoken support of offshore drilling.
