Sarah Palin On Facebook: Save The Greenback Obama!

Sarah Palin Posted an article by Larry Kudlow, from The National Review, on her Facebook page:

We know that gold is soaring. And we know the dollar is slumping. But, did you know that year-to-date, while the S&P 500 is up 18% — a great showing, no doubt — gold is up even more? The precious metal is up 21%. In other words, measured in true, gold-backed purchasing power, stocks have really done nothing this year. Zip. It is most disappointing.

I try to be optimistic about better earnings, a stock-market rally, and economic recovery. And I’m sticking to my guns. But what we’re seeing right now is pretty darn close to what we witnessed in the 1970s — the rise in gold and inflation really cuts into the stock market. So what’s the way out?

Well for starters, we need a stable dollar to stop inflationary pressures. And we also need lower tax rates to spur the economy, help it grow, and reduce unemployment. I’ve been calling this the Mundell-Laffer supply-side solution, after Nobel Prize–winning economist Robert Mundell and my mentor, former Reagan advisor Arthur Laffer. It was put to work with great success nearly 30 years ago to stop stagflation. It also launched a 20-year bull-market recovery.

Put simply, the Mundell-Laffer model exercises monetary restraint to save the dollar — and low marginal tax rates for economic-growth incentives that benefit investors, risk takers, small businesses, and workers. Right now, for therapy, the Fed should begin moving excess cash from the economy, and they should raise their target rate. Take a page from the Reserve Bank of Australia’s playbook and move rates higher.

In addition, the Treasury ought to get out there and buy these unwanted dollars in the marketplace. Just go out there and bid for them. And they need to stop printing so much debt from Congress. All this massive spending and borrowing is killing us. We need to be slashing tax rates on large and small businesses. There’s just no better place to begin job creation. And leave the Bush tax cuts in place, for heaven’s sake.

This supply-side shock therapy would save the dollar. And it would put real long-term torque into the recovery.

We’re supposed to be in an era of post-partisanship. So in this spirit, I’d like to respectfully ask Obama and his economic team to give this plan a try. It worked for JFK. It also worked for Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan. It can work for you as well.

The time has come to save the greenback and grow the economy, sir.

Friends & Foes Respond to Sarah Palin On Afghanistan

The Christian Science Monitor: 

Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has offered her two cents on the $165 million-dollar-a-day question that is the war in Afghanistan.  Her medium? Facebook.

“Now is not the time for cold feet, second thoughts, or indecision – it is the time to act as commander-in-chief and approve the troops so clearly needed in Afghanistan,” she wrote in a three-paragraph note. A little thumbs-up icon underneath declares that, as of this writing, “9,809 people like this.”

If the medium is the message, the post seems to actually dignify the three-ring spectacle that has burst forth since Afghans cast their votes nearly two months ago: fraudsters in Kabul, a hush-up at the United Nations, and leaks and backbiting between America’s military and civilian leadership with more than a dash of good ol’ Washington partisanship.

Sarah Palin was reminding Obama what the fool promised on the campaign trail. He said he wanted to win the war and do what was necessary to secure peace in Afghanistan. Listening to the General may be a good starting point.

CS Monitor naturally takes a huge leap from Gov Palin's  comments to ‘the post actually dignifies’ the corruption that the UN oversaw in the Afghan vote.  This is not only laughable but yet another media outlet blowing Obama at our peril.  I am sure the word racist is coming soon.

For those keeping tabs on the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee, former Gov. Sarah Palin, R-Alaska, she weighed in on Afghanistan on her Facebook page Tuesday. 

CBS is a joke that needs to be shutdown!

Sarah Palin is endorsing calls for additional troops in Afghanistan, calling on President Obama "to act as commander-in-chief" and increase US force levels.  Palin posted her message just hours after Democratic and Republican congressional leaders -- including her former running mate, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., met at the White House to offer views and perspectives on the war in 

Afghanistan. McCain is also calling for the president to send additional troops

Rick Klein wrote a fairly neutral article entitled Palin: No Time for ‘Cold Feet’ on Afghanistan.  I see this is a hopeful sign that some in the the media has partially woken up.

NY Daily News:

Sarah Palin uses Facebook soap box; Urges President Obama to boost troop buildup in Afghanistan.  The top three U.S. military officials overseeing the war favor continuing the fight against an emboldened Taliban and have concluded they need tens of thousands more U.S. troops beyond the 68,000 already there.

Afghanistan Illuminates Obama’s Complete Lack of Leadership: The difference in leadership quality between President Obama and Governor Palin over Afghanistan couldn't be more clear. Obama believes he knows better than his own hand-picked expert, General McChrystal. McChrystal has requested an additional 40,000 troops without which the U.S. will fail in Afghanistan. General McChrystal's superior, General David Petraeus, endorses McChrystal's strategy in Afghanistan.

Obama's amateurish handling of Afghanistan should come as no surprise. This is what happens when we elect a man with zero executive experience to the highest office in the land. He has never run a Kool-Aid stand, much less a business or any level of government. Executives, including presidents, are paid to make decisions. Not rashly, but quickly and decisively when the circumstances call for it. With U.S. troops dying at an increasing rate and roughly 68,000 troops in harm's way, it's fair to conclude that this is one of those circumstances.

Doug Brady, at C4Palin, naturally hit it on the mark.  Obama is an incompetent coward and Governor Palin is a real leader.  Palin loves America and Obama hates America.

Drudge and Palin's Afghanistan Messages: A Right-Wing Sybil Moment?: We wonder, however, whether Drudge and Palin's efforts, though ostensibly working toward the same goal, will nullify one another. Palin and the Republican set are explicit: more troops! The typically conservative Drudge, we're assuming, supports that message, but his anti-Obama bias has obscured the header's bellicose undertones.

What happens when impressionable readers see all the death on Drudge's and think, "Gee, maybe this war business isn't good for anything?" It's almost as if the conservative camp's having a Sybil moment. Not that we can blame them: pinning all this death and destruction on Obama must be hard while also calling for more death and destruction.

Sarah Palin To Socialist Obama: Further Proof of the Need for Energy Independence

The British newspaper The Independent reported today that Gulf oil producers were negotiating with Russia, China, Japan and France to replace the dollar in pricing oil with a basket of currencies. According to the Wall Street Journal, Arab oil officials have denied the story, but even the possibility of such a talk weakens the dollar and renews fears about its continued viability as an international reserve currency. In fact, today a United Nations official called for a new global reserve currency to replace the dollar and end our “privilege” to run up huge deficits. We can see the effect of this in the price of gold, which hit a record high today in response to fears about the weakened dollar.

All of this is a result of our out-of-control debt. This is why we need to rein in spending, and this is also why we need energy independence. A weakened dollar means higher commodity prices. This will make it more difficult to pay our bills – including the bill to import oil.

In his book Architects of Ruin, Peter Schweizer points out that the Obama administration is focusing primarily on “green energy," while ignoring our need to develop our domestic conventional energy resources. We’re ignoring the looming crisis caused by our dependence on foreign oil. Because we’re dependent on foreign nations for our oil, we’re also at their mercy if they decide to dump the dollar as their trade currency. We can’t allow ourselves to be so vulnerable to the whims of foreign nations. That’s why we must develop our own domestic supplies of oil and gas.

Though the chant of “Drill, baby, drill” was much derided, it expressed the need to confront this issue head-on before it reaches a crisis point.

Bottom line: let’s stop digging ourselves into debt and start drilling for energy independence.
